San Antonio's home edge makes the opener a natural home-side play

NBA.com has Wednesday's Game 1 officially on the board, and the cleanest angle is the home side: San Antonio Spurs to win.

The first reason is simple. Finals openers matter more when one team has home court and a distinct identity advantage, and San Antonio have both. At home they can more easily control pace, protect the rim and let Victor Wembanyama influence possessions without needing the game to turn into a full-speed trading contest. That matters against a Knicks side that would rather drag value out of depth, second efforts and long-game pressure.

New York absolutely deserve respect after sweeping Cleveland, but that is also why the market is unlikely to hand San Antonio a soft entry. This is not about chasing a complicated prop. It is about backing the side with the first structural edge in the series. In Game 1, that edge belongs to the Spurs.
